Broken X11 After Mandriva Upgrade

Hmm, sounds like something more fundamental is wrong then. I'd imagine 
your upgrades have perhaps not gone overly smoothly :s

Perhaps you can supply your full xorg.log (a link to a pastebin would be 
nicer than attaching).

As I said above, I'd go for the 2007.1 version:
x11-driver-video-i810-1.7.4-22mdv2007.1.i586.rpm

You may have to remove the currently installed package first yes.

You can do:
rpm -e --nodeps x11-driver-video-intel
rpm -Uvh x11-driver-video-i810-1.7.4-22mdv2007.1.i586.rpm

I wouldn't normally recommend doing this kind of thing but if things 
really are not working for you then this could help.
