Thumbnails are one of the biggest problems of the current OCAL. I totally agree that thumbnails in the clipart list are painfully missing. But this seems to require some bigger changes in the OCAL infrastructure, and there are too few volunteers to cope with that.

But for the thumbnail view on the individual clipart pages, I once wrote a little Greasemonkey script that makes them usable at least in Firefox and Opera (and maybe others). Since the OCAL people didn't want to integrate this as a preliminary solution to the site itself, it's up to the users to set it up:

Maybe it would even be possible to add thumbnails to the result list like that, I haven't tried yet.
